Police Nab Suspect in High-Speed Chase

A Los Angeles man was one of three suspects police allege robbed a Pacific Palisades home before speeding off into Santa Monica.

Burglars spotted rummaging through a Pacific Palisades home Sunday night led police on a high-speed chase into Santa Monica, where they ditched their car and fled, authorities said.

Police erected a one-block perimeter near Santa Monica College at about 8 p.m. and arrested 32-year-old Don Mosely, of Los Angeles, but two other suspects got away, said officer Karen Rayner, a Los Angeles Police Department spokeswoman.

The pursuit began when LAPD officers received a radio call about a burglary in progress in the 16500 block of Via Floresta in the Pacific Palisades. Los Angeles County Sheriff's deputies had a vehicle, a silver Jeep Liberty, with three suspects under surveillance when the call was made at 6:30 p.m.

LAPD tailed the Jeep eastbound on Sunset Boulevard to Temescal Canyon Road and Pacific Coast Highway. When LAPD officers attempted to pull the Jeep over for a traffic stop, the vehicle fled down PCH and onto the 10 Freeway, according to a Palisades police patrol report.

At one point, the officers called off their chase because the burglars were speeding severely, Rayner said. A police helicopter followed the getaway car as it zipped away.

At 21st Street and Delaware Avenue, the suspects ditched the car and ran off in different directions. Rayner said officers recovered evidence from the car, including possessions from the Palisades home.

Mosely was booked on suspicion of burglary and held on $50,000 bail.
