The incident occurred at 11:14 a.m. The actress was jogging when she was struck by a car near the intersection of 20th and Georgina. The driver was heading southbound on 20th when she hit Witherspoon, who was jogging west on Georgina within an unmarked crosswalk.
Witherspoon was brought via ambulance to a local hospital, where she was treated.

The driver of the car was an 84-year-old woman who lives in Santa Monica. Her name has not been released.
After being interviewed at the scene of the incident, the driver was cited for failing to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk. She was then released.
