Santa Monica Fire Department Assists With Colby Fire

The local team pitched in last week, helping to protect structures, a water facility and avocado orchards in the area.

On Jan. 16 at 7:55am, The Santa Monica Fire Department was deployed as part of a mutual aid request to assist with the Colby Fire in Glendora. 

The SMFD strike team’s initial assignment was to the Azusa Structure Protection Group in the southwest portion of the fire.

As conditions changed other assignments included, providing structure protection in Ridgeview Drive and Ranch Road area of homes, a water facility, and avocado orchards.

The SMFD received praise on social media including the following:
