A 33-year-old Venice woman suspected of killing a man in a hit-and-run crash in Venice early Friday was facing possible felony hit-and-run charges today.

Kara Kiehle was arrested around 3:30 p.m. at a residence in the 500 block of Rialto Court after police received an anonymous web tip and conducted a follow-up investigation into the crash, which happened around midnight Friday at the intersection of Lincoln and Venice boulevards, said Officer James Stoughton of the Los Angeles Police Department's West Traffic Division.

Authorities have not identified the victim, a 33-year-old man who was pronounced dead at the scene, pending notification of relatives.

Police initially said he may have been a transient, but NBC4 reported that investigators found a Santa Monica address for the man and were trying to contact his next of kin.

He was in a marked crosswalk but was crossing against a traffic signal, an investigator told the station.

Kiehle, who was traveling west on Venice, struck the man as he tried to cross Lincoln, police said.

She was booked at the LAPD's Valley Jail Section in Van Nuys on suspicion of hit-and-run fatal and was being held in lieu of $50,00 bail, Stoughton said.

She was expected to appear at the Airport Courthouse on Oct. 18, according to sheriff's online jail records.
