Santa Monica Police Seek Armed Robbery Suspects

A boyfriend and girlfriend accused of robbing five people staying at the Seaview Motel were at large today.

The robbery was reported at 11:30 p.m. April 21 at the motel, 1760 Ocean Ave., according to SMPD Sgt. Richard Lewis.

Arriving officers spotted several suspects fleeing the location on foot, and four were taken into custody. Four handguns were recovered, Lewis said. As many as four suspects were able to flee the crime scene.

Detectives were able to identify two of the outstanding suspects as 26-year-old Sergio Raul Gutierrez of Oxnard and 23-year-old Melissa Lizeth Castillo Gomez of Los Angeles.

He is described as a Male/Hispanic 5'8", 150 pounds, brown hair and brown eyes. She is described as female Hispanic, 5'7", 130 pounds brown hair and brown eyes.

Gutierrez and Gomez are boyfriend - girlfriend and may be living in the Los Angeles area, Lewis said.
