Santa Monica Police to Beef up Patrols Feb. 15, Target Motorcyclists

The effort is designed to increase awareness and safety.

To reduce the number of motorcycle-involved accidents, the Santa Monica Police Department will conduct a specialized motorcycle safety enforcement operation on Feb. 15, with extra officers on duty, looking for violations by drivers and riders.

Officers will patrol areas frequented by motorcyclists and where motorcycle crashes tend to occur. Officers will also be on the lookout for motorcyclists driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol, speeding or making illegal turns.
