Santa Monica Police to Beef up Patrols Feb. 15, Target Motorcyclists

The effort is designed to increase awareness and safety.

To reduce the number of motorcycle-involved accidents, the Santa Monica Police Department will conduct a specialized motorcycle safety enforcement operation on Feb. 15, with extra officers on duty, looking for violations by drivers and riders.

Officers will patrol areas frequented by motorcyclists and where motorcycle crashes tend to occur. Officers will also be on the lookout for motorcyclists driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol, speeding or making illegal turns.

motorcycles are very dangerous....I have several close friends who were severely injured in motorcycle crashes....however, it was the fault of the car drivers...the answer is defensive riding by cyclists, on both motorcycles and bicycles...

I've been riding since I was 15... But I hate straight pipes! Please bust those jerks, Its so annoying were I live near Lincoln and Ocean Park and they pump out dirty unfiltered pollution and noise.
