Santa Monica Police to Crack Down on Speeding

Drivers with a lead foot beware. Santa Monica Police will be cracking down on motorists who drive at unsafe speed or fail to observe stop signs over the next three months.

The Santa Monica Police Department's Traffic Enforcement Section will hold the crack down from July through September, according to SMPD Lt. Richard Lewis.

Lt. Jay Trisler said unsafe speed is one of the leading causes of traffic collisions in the city of Santa Monica.  He also pointed out that the driver of any vehicle, including bicycles, approaching a stop sign must come to a complete stop.
