Main Street Reopens With Suspect Arrested

Main Street and Neilson Way were closed at Ocean Park Boulevard Wednesday afternoon as the Los Angeles Police Department searched for a drug suspect.

A drug suspect who fled from Venice into Santa Monica on Wednesday afternoon prompted authorites to close sections of Main Street and other nearby roads, officials said.

Officers with the Los Angeles Police Department were conducting a narcotics investigation and a male adult suspect fled the scene and headed toward Santa Monica, said Sgt. Darryl Martin of the LAPD's Pacific Division.

The LAPD called in help from the Santa Monica Police Department at 2:28 p.m. as officers erected a perimeter in the area. Parts of Main Street and Neilson Way were closed as well as roads around Ocean Park Boulevard.

The suspect was taken into custody and the roads were reopened by 4 p.m.

No further information was immediately available.
