Sex Offender Arrested on Suspicion of Attacking Santa Monica Woman

The suspect, identified as Kelechi Amadi, is a registered sex offender on parole for sexual battery and failure to register as a sex offender.

A 34-year-old sex offender was arrested for allegedly attacking a woman on a bus bench in Santa Monica, and police Friday set out to find additional victims.

The incident occurred around 4:30 a.m. Wednesday in the 400 block of Santa Monica Boulevard, said Sgt. Richard Lewis of the Santa Monica Police Department.

The woman told officers that the suspect "touched her underneath her clothing and stated that he was going to rape her,'' Lewis said.

The suspect, identified as Kelechi Amadi, is a registered sex offender on parole for sexual battery and failure to register as a sex offender.

Amadi was arrested and booked for sexual battery and assault to commit rape, Lewis said. Police are seeking the public's help locating and identifying additional victims.

"Amadi is homeless and is known to travel extensively throughout the Los  Angeles area, utilizing public transportation,'' Lewis said.
