Suspected Car Thief Nabbed on Main Street

Woman reportedly admits taking black Porsche, Santa Monica police say.

Bail was set at $35,000 for a woman arrested last week in Santa Monica on suspicion of grand theft, online jail records show.

Police allege Newport Beach resident Michele Lynn Frazier, 27, was driving a stolen Porsche when they arrested her July 27 in the 2800 block of Main Street. They also reported that she was in possession of several credit cards in someone else's name.

Santa Monica police officers discovered the car was stolen while using an automatic license plate reader. Once they pulled her over, Frazier apparently admitted to swiping the vehicle.

They contacted the car's actual owner who "told officers that he knew the driver, but did not know that she was the one who stole his vehicle. He was desirous of prosecution and she was placed under arrest," according to Sgt. Richard Lewis.
