Suspected Prowler Tased, Bit by Police K9

A 22-year-old is facing a burglary charge after allegedly trying to force his way inside a woman's Santa Monica apartment from the balcony.

Prosecutors have charged a man who allegedly climbed onto a balcony and tried to force his way inside an apartment in the 600 block of California Avenue.

Police officers responded to the unit about 12:30 a.m. Jan. 21 on a 911 call from a woman who reported she was watching TV when a man, later identified as Adrian Coleman, climbed onto the balcony. She began screaming, then called 911, according to the Santa Monica Police Department.

The officers reported having to use a K9 and a Taser to take Coleman, 22, into custody.

Coleman was treated at local hospital for a dog bite to his leg and other injuries sustained during a fight with officers, according to the police department.

The Los Angeles County District Attorney's office charged Coleman with one count of burglary. He pled not guilty and is being held on $50,000 bail.
