Woman Charged With Brandishing A Deadly Weapon

Deeanna Blette, a transient, allegedly waved a gun at a man who approached her while sitting inside a vehicle and said, "Don't ever approach my car again."

On Aug. 24 at approximately 8:30 a.m. Santa Monica police officers responded to a radio call regarding a suspicious person in a backyard area of a home located in the 600 block of Alta Ave.

While en route, additional information was broadcast indicating a female suspect in a parked vehicle had displayed a handgun to him.

Upon arrival the responding officers located the parked vehicle and observed someone inside.  Using their patrol vehicles’ public address system, the officers gave verbal commands for the occupant to exit the vehicle.

After exiting the vehicle a female subject told the officers that a BB gun was under the passenger seat.  A black Crossman brand BB gun was found a few moments later exactly where the suspect said it would be.

Officers then interviewed the victim who also had reported the incident.  He told officers that he first observed a female subject sleeping in his backyard and had called the police.  At this time, the victim also observed a vehicle parked on the street that was frequently occupied by a person sleeping in it overnight.  He approached the vehicle and encountered another female lying in the back seat of the vehicle.  He then told this female subject that he had already called the police regarding the other woman in his backyard and that they were on their way.  The female in the vehicle displayed what appeared to be a black handgun and told him, “Don’t ever approach my car again.”  As the victim walked away to call the police again he heard her say, “Do we have an understanding?”

The victim desired prosecution of the female subject in the parked vehicle for brandishing a weapon.  The woman in his backyard had left while the brandishing incident had occurred.  Upon further investigation, officers concluded that there was no connection between the two female subjects.  After the victim signed a completed private person arrest form the female suspect from the parked vehicle was taken into custody and transported to the Santa Monica Jail where she was booked for 417.4 PC Brandishing/Weapon.  Bail $15,000.00.

Suspect:  Blette, Deeanna Melissa F/ White / 01/19/1975 (38) Transient
