Woman Injured in Pico Neighborhood Shooting Not Cooperating with Police

The suspect is described as an African-American man in his early 20s with a thin build.

A man who opened fire on a car, injuring a woman, in the Pico neighborhood remained at large Thursday.

The shooting was reported at 7:10 p.m. Tuesday on 20th Street and Delaware Avenue, according to Sgt. Richard Lewis, a spokesman for the Santa Monica Police Department.

A known local gang member was stopped in a vehicle at a red light with two female passengers when an African-American man in his early 20s with a thin build walked up and opened fire, striking one of the women, Lewis said.

"They talked to the driver of the car. He was a victim too and didn’t get hit. He’s not cooperating either," Lewis said.

The investigation is ongoing.
