Woman Knocked Unconscious in Fight With Roommate

A woman who had earlier kicked her temporary roommate out of her Ocean Park Boulevard residence was found unconscious early Monday morning by Santa Monica Police officers, the department reported.

The police said responded to the 1800 block about 5:30 a.m after receiving a report of two women fighting in the street.

When they arrived, they found one woman lying in the alley, unconscious. The other woman, identified as 23-year-old Travette Hill, was rubbing her eyes and told officers she had been pepper-sprayed, according to Sgt. Richard Lewis.

Hill, who was homeless and had been allowed to stay at the residence for a couple of days, was kicked out the prior evening because she invited a strange man to the apartment, according to the police.

"While leaving, the victim noticed [Hill] had some of the victim's clothing and a fight ensued," the police reported. Hill allegedly "began striking the victim and the victim used pepper spray to defend herself."

Hill allegedly "took the victim to the ground and proceeded to slam her head into the asphalt several times until she lost consciousness," the police reported.

The police booked Hill into the Santa Monica jail on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, robbery and probation violation. The victim was taken to a local hospital and treated for a head injury.
