City's Mobile App Now Available for Android

With Government on the Go, smart phone users can let Santa Monica officials know about potholes and graffiti.

Government on the Go, a city of Santa Monica smart-phone application that lets users inform municipal officials about maintenance issues, is now compatible with the Android, the city's chief information officer recently announced. The app was made available for the iPhone one year ago.

“Santa Monica is known to be a leader in the use of technology for providing information and services to the public," Jory Wolf said in a statement.

Through Government on the Go, smart phone users can get in touch with city staff members about fixing potholes, cleaning up graffiti and other service requests. After opening the app, users can note an issue and include an optional photo. The app notes the user's location and relays the request to the appropriate city official. The user can subsequently receive status updates via his or her smart phone.

The Government on the Go service is part of Go Santa Monica, the city's effort to enhance relationship management with its citizens. The app can be downloaded here for the Android and here for the iPhone. According to the city, the service will facilitate more rapid responses to maintenance problems, and save time and money as well.

"The mobile app is the latest example of the city’s use of technology to connect government with the community and improve customer service," Wolf said.
