Former Santa Monica Mayor Bobby Shriver will run for the Third District seat on the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors.

Shriver says on his website, bobbyshriver.com, that he is running for the board to continue his work on the Santa Monica City Council, where he said he "worked to deliver first-class police and fire protection, clean up Santa Monica Bay and the beaches, create and maintain parks and house the homeless, especially military veterans.''

During his official announcement on Tuesday morning at a press conference at Will Rogers State Beach, Shriver said, "I want to fix things. I want to shake things up at the county, to get it done, make it transparent... "I am an entrepreneur, not a career politician, and I am committed to solving tough problems in L.A. County.''
