Obama Departs Santa Monica, Safely Lands in Palm Springs

President Barack Obama has emerged from Air Force One at Palm Springs International Airport, and has greeted various dignitaries, including Gov. Jerry Brown, Rep. Raul Ruiz, D-Palm Desert, Palm Springs Mayor Steve Pougnet and Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians Chairman Jeff Grubbe.

Obama will shortly be transported to Sunnylands estate in Rancho Mirage to meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping.

Obama's travel route back to LAX following his Santa Monica fundraiser Friday was altered due to a shooting at Santa Monica College.

Deputy Press Secretary Josh Earnest says the president took a motorcade directly from the fundraiser to LAX, instead of returning to the Marine One
helicopter at Santa Monica Airport.
