Democrats Plan Debate Viewing Parties in Santa Monica

Want to watch Barack Obama and Mitt Romney in the first presidential debate of the 2012 election? Viewing parties are being held across Santa Monica.

Can't afford cable or wireless internet? Want to watch Mitt Romney fire off some zingers with fellow Democrats?

A handful of presidential debate viewing parties are being held across Santa Monica on Wednesday, when Romeny and Obama will go head-to-head in the first of three presidential debates.

Jim Lehrer of PBS' NewsHour will moderate the first debate as the candidates focus on domestic policy. The debate will be divided into six time segments. Lehrer will open each segment with a question and each candidate will have two minutes to respond.

Local Dems Hopeful Over Obama's Message

The debate will run from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. PST and will be broadcast live on ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC and C-SPAN, as well as cable news channels including CNN, MSNBC and more. Romney's website shows the closest Republican viewing parties in Las Vegas and Utah. The Westside Republicans did not immediately return a message seeking information about any parties planned locally.
