The U.S. Attorney’s office says notorious Boston mobster James “Whitey” Bulger is worth $25 million, reports ABC News.
The claim was made in a court filing after the U.S. Attorney’s Office made a detailed tally of testimony from Bulger’s victims.
After 20 years on the lam, Bulger, 83, was arrested in June, 2011, where it was discovered he’d been living in an apartment in Santa Monica for the past 14 years. He was convicted last month of murdering 11 people along with convictions for extortion, money laundering and weapons charges.
According to the court filing, the government wants a judge to force Bulger to reveal where his money may be hidden. The mob boss had opened safety deposit boxes around the world.
Police found $822,000 in cash hidden in the walls of his Santa Monica hideout.
Bulger will be sentenced in November.
