Santa Monica Offers Several Ways to Recycle Christmas Trees

The city is asking residents to 'park' their trees.

Santa Monica residents who want to turn their Christmas trees in mulch may do so for free at four local parks for the entire month of January, Santa Monica Public Works announced. In addition, residents can also chop up their trees and place them in their yard waste collection container.

Residents may drop off or 'park' their trees at the following parks:

  • Clover Park, 2600 Ocean Park Blvd.
  • Douglas Park, 2439 Wilshire Blvd.
  • Christine Emerson Reed Park, 1133 7th Street
  • Hotchkiss Park, 2351 Third Street

Officials are also reminding residents that leaving their trees at the curb or in the alleys is a fire hazard as well as illegal.
