Santa Monica Officials Fight for Redevelopment Projects in Sacramento

The state is seeking reimbursement of the redevelopment funds for these projects.

Santa Monica officials are in Sacramento fight for 11 redevelopment projects, the Santa Monica Daily Press reports.

The projects are part of the redevelopment agencies that were dissolved by Gov. Jerry Brown in 2011 to offset a budget shortfall. They include six Downtown parking structures, Tongva Park and the extension of the Olympic Drive.

The state's Department of Finance is arguing the parking structures “do not serve a government purpose” therefor are ineligible for transfer, the Daily Press reports.
