Santa Monica to Celebrate Parking Structure 6 Milestone

The completion of the top level of the new 11-level structure will be celebrated by community leaders.

Construction for Santa Monica's revamped parking structure at 1431 2nd St. won’t be completed until the end of the year, but the city is about to celebrate reaching the structure’s maximum height.

The celebration is set for Wednesday, Aug. 14.

The new structure will feature 700 parking spaces throughout 11 parking levels as well as 90 bike racks and 19 motorcycle spaces. Retail space will be available on the ground level and solar panels will be installed on the roof, according to the city website.

Here’s what sidewalk and street closures near the construction site look like this week:

Second Street between Broadway and Santa Monica Boulevard:

-Periodic sidewalk closures through Aug. 10

-Northbound lane closures through Aug. 10

Broadway between Second and Fourth Streets:

-Periodic westbound and eastbound lane closures between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. through Aug. 9. One lane in each direction will be maintained at all times.
