What's the Key to Increasing Safety for Walking in Santa Monica?

Input from weekly questions will be used to shape Santa Monica's Pedestrian Action Plan.

Better infrastructure for bicycles in Santa Monica may be the answer to increasing safety for pedestrians, according to he winner of a weekly online contest put on by the city.

The virtual online town hall features questions and the city is handing out prizes to participants.

Last week’s Featured Question of the Week raffle winner was an unnamed woman who answered: “Does concern for your personal safety keep you from walking any place in Santa Monica? If so, where?”

She said her main concern was when bicyclists ride on the sidewalk.

This week’s featured question is: “What ideas do you have for motivating customers to walk to local businesses?” Community residents are invited to talk about this and other questions online at http://pedplan.santamonicatownhall.org.

The website features several topics related to walking in Santa Monica, from where people like to walk and where safety improvements are needed, to how they plan to get to future Expo stations.

Input received will be used to shape Santa Monica’s Pedestrian Action Plan.
