Developer Buys Antique Mall for Reported $11 Million

Lincoln Boulevard site could be turned into a mixed-used retail and commercial project, one of many proposed along the thoroughfare.

Century West Partners, an apartment developer, has purchased the site of the Wertz Brothers Antique Mart in Santa Monica for more than $11 million, the Los Angeles Times reported Sunday.

The Times reported:

Century West plans to incorporate the site into its proposed Lincoln Boulevard Collection, which is to be comprised of four apartment buildings on Lincoln Boulevard with a combined total of 421 units. The complex is to have shops and restaurants on the ground floor.

The city is weighing at least eight applications for development agreements on Lincoln between Santa Monica Boulevard and the 10 Freeway. (See map here.) In addition to all of the new development likely to pop up in the next few years, the busy boulevard will get a makeover aimed at making it more pedestrian and bike friendly.

The antique mall at 1607-1613 Lincoln Blvd. will close Feb. 1 after 11 years in business under the ownership of brothers Mike and Larry Wertz.

The new owners "hope this will make downtown Santa Monica more pedestrian friendly,” real estate broker Patrick Wade, who helped broker the deal, told the Times. Wade also brokered the sale of neighboring Denny's and NORMS.
