Main St, Santa Monica

Main Street in Santa Monica actually lives up to its name. It is pretty much the main street in Santa Monica with its eclectic shops and diverse eateries. Main Street is filled with cafes, boutiques and other services and stretches about a mile long. The full-of-life urban street is also known for having the first Starbucks in California. The Starbucks is just one of the many historic facts about the street. The latest news is that Main Street will go green. That's right! Most of the businesses on the street will step up in saving the environment by going green.

Clothing Shops

This touristy street known as Main Street is filled with boutiques. So, if you want fashion, you'll find it along Main Street, Santa Monica. The top of the line fashion labels can be found on this gorgeous street. From handbags, hats, boots, dresses to leather jackets, this street has it all for the shop-o-holic! However, even thrifty shoppers can come to find deals as boutiques offer everything. Anyone can come and pamper themselves with stylish clothes. 

Eateries

Restaurants on Main Street are everywhere. Unique and diverse, Main Street offers just about anything when it comes to food. Delicious chain and independent restaurants decorate the street for food enthusiast to enjoy. You have Olive Garden, Tar and Roses, Urth Cafe, La Vecchia Cucina, etc. All of the different cultures that have established themselves in Santa Monica are represented on Main Street by a delicious place to go eat at. Also, very affordable dining or whatever you are in the mood for. 

The First What?

Main Street is also known for having the first Starbucks in California. Yes, Starbucks on Main Street started the trend here in California. If one wants more than just a cup of coffee, but, instead an artisan type of grounds, then Main Street had that as well. Many cafes and other coffee shops are available as well to add to the diversity that is Main Street. The first Starbucks sits on the Historic District of the street. 

Yes, Main Street had the first Ben and Jerry ice cream shop. Also, the California Heritage Museum, built in the 1920s, can be found on this street along with the Ocean Park Library that was built in 1918. 

Going Green

The latest news about this colorful street with its motley culture is that it is going green. Most of the businesses on the street have agreed to go green for the sake of Mother Earth. There is nothing better than buying or shopping at a business that condones a clean environment. 

Very Enjoyable

In the end, Main Street is full of life. It has a weekly Farmers Market every Sunday with a yearly summer festival. In 2009, the summer festival held the most ever tribute bands the west of the Mississippi. Main Street is a great place for walking, shopping, eating, and sightseeing.
