Date Set for Initial Meeting on School District Superintendent Hunt

The meeting will take place on Thursday. The Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District says it will hold "formal community forums' in 'the very near future."

The Board of Education will hold a public meeting on Thursday to finalize details of the search for the 's . Officials from Leadership Associates, the firm hired to assist with the search, will be at the meeting.

"The purpose of this meeting is to provide the Board of Education an opportunity to meet with Leadership Associates to discuss and agree upon the timeline and process of the search for SMMUSD’s new permanent superintendent," a district press release issued Friday states. 

The press release also states, "Formal community forums designed to obtain broad community input regarding the search will be scheduled in the very near future."

Superintendent Tim Cuneo will retire on June 30. Board members said at a meeting earlier this month that they want a replacement selected by early April.

The meeting will take place at 6 p.m. at the SMMUSD office, located at 1651 16th Street in Santa Monica.
