SM Chamber of Commerce 16th Annual SQA Luncheon

The Santa Monica Chamber of Commerce, Sustainable Works and the City of Santa Monica work together each year to produce the Sustainable Quality Awards (SQA).  This is one of Santa Monica's  most prestigious environmental current events. For sixteen years the SQAs have celebrated local business achievement in economic development, social responsibility, and stewardship of the environment.

This year's theme focuses on one of Santa Monica's biggest assets: sustainable food. Chefs from the Sheraton Santa Monica, The Lobster, Whole Foods, Locanda del Lago, Schaffer's Genuine Foods, Upper West, and Border Grill will be partnered with a local farmer to produce an all-sustainable reception and luncheon menu.

We are proud to have Sarah Backhouse, host of Discovery's "Planet 100" show as emcee, and Evan Kleiman as this year's keynote speaker. Evan is chef-owner of Angeli Caffe on Melrose. She has been the host of Good Food on KCRW for almost 15 years, and her interest in food policy is expressed through her participation on the Los Angeles Food Policy Council. In addition, Mary Sue Milliken, Chef and Co-Owner of Border Grill and former SQA winner, will be on hand to present this year's Sustainable Quality Award Grand Prize. The 16th Annual Sustainable Quality awards are presented by LACarGUY and Morley Builders, and hosted by the Sheraton Santa Monica from 11am - 2pm on Wednesday, April 27th.
