Lighthouse Football Hopes to Shine

The Saints' 8 Man schedule includes Price and Rolling Hills Prep.

The 2011 season is fast approaching for the 8 Man football team. 

Coached by the father-son tandem of Rob and Nate Scribner, the Saints kick off the year next Thursday, September 1, with a practice game against Birmingham.

The regular season opens Saturday, Sept. 10, with an afternoon game against Southlands Christian in Walnut. Also on the Saints' schedule are road games against Granada Hills Hillcrest Christian, Torrance Pacific Lutheran, San Pedro Rolling Hills Prep and Los Angeles Price.

Lighthouse Christian plays in the Coastal League and is in the CIF Southern Section's 8 Man Division 2 playoff bracket.

The Saints went 3-4-1 last season, finishing fourth out of five teams in their league. They defeated Thousand Oaks Hillcrest Christian, La Verne Lutheran and Pacific Lutheran, tied Ribet Academy 0-0 and lost to Southlands Christian, Rolling Hills Prep and Price. They lost their playoff opener to North County Christian 44-36 at Atascadero high.

Head Coach Nate Scribner is a former Lighthouse Christian standout and Santa Monica College linebacker. His dad Rob played running back at UCLA and later with the Los Angeles Rams in the National Football League.

In 2005, Lighthouse Christian reached the Southern Section 8 Man Division V-A finals.
