Photos: Demolition at Downtown Expo Station

Building at 430 Colorado Ave. is razed to make way for the downtown Expo light rail station.

Demolition began Wednesday on a four-story building at Fourth Street and Colorado Avenue—the future terminus of the Expo light rail.

Razing the building at 430 Colorado Ave. was the the first big step toward building the downtown train station. Once operational in 2016, the light rail will take passengers from downtown Los Angeles to just a few blocks east of the Santa Monica Pier in 46 minutes.

Eastbound Colorado between Fourth and Fifth streets is closed permanently while crews work at the site.
