Vikings Football Unranked in Latest CIF Poll

The Santa Monica High football team is outside the top 10 in the Western Division.

The CIF Southern Section office has released this week's Top 10 high school football rankings, and remains on the list of "others under consideration" in the Western Division. The team suffered , 17-0, to Valencia (ranked eighth in the Northern Division) on Friday night.

Ocean League rival Culver City (4-0) moved up two spots from seventh to fifth after its 52-0 drubbing of winless Leuzinger, .

St. Paul stayed in front of Mission League rival Chaminade in the No. 1 spot after edging Ayala 30-27. Chaminade stayed at No. 2 after its 29-13 victory over Mira Costa. Arroyo Grande held at No. 3, St. Francis moved up one spot to No. 4, Gardena Serra dropped to No. 6 after losing to Harbor City Narbonne of the City Section, Ventura moved up to No. 7, Dominguez remained No. 8, Dominguez dropped one spot to No. 9 and Gahr held at No. 10.

Compton Centennial (4-0), which hosts Samohi on Friday, is ranked second in the Northwest Division after a 20-14 victory over Morningside, another of Samohi's Ocean League rivals. The Vikings routed Centennial 56-13 last season.

"Those guys do their homework," said of the committee charged with determining the CIF rankings. "Given that none of three teams we've beaten has won a game yet I can understand why we're not ranked. It's OK, I like flying under the radar. We still have to prove ourselves against the better teams."
