Samohi Players Make All-League Teams

After both won the All-Ocean League championship this season, it's hardly a surprise that the baseball and softball squads have multiple players on their respective All-League teams.

The All-Ocean League baseball team was highlighted by Vikings junior left-handed pitcher , who was named Most Valuable Player.

Teammates joining Padilla on the first team are senior left-handed pitcher Andrew McRitchie, junior utility player David Tyre-Vigil, sophomore outfielder Alex Turner and senior first baseman Matthew Stancil. 

Making the second team for Samohi are senior second baseman Nick Herrera, sophomore catcher Lino Lares and junior right-handed pitcher Albert Garcia. 

Samohi Coach Sheldon Philip-Guide has been named Coach of the Year. The Vikings were upset by Montebello in the first round of the Southern Section Division 3 playoffs.

The All-Ocean League softball team is highlighted by Vikings junior catcher and second baseman Kelly Ricard, who has been named Most Valuable Player; and pilot Marybell Moreno, who has been named Coach of the Year.

Joining Ricard on the All-League first team are senior left fielder Meghan Bradley, senior pitcher and first baseman Natalie Abel, and freshman pitcher and third baseman Sara Garcia.

Second-team selections from Samohi are senior outfielder Kelsey Hom, senior shortstop Amanda Delgadillo, sophomore right fielder, second baseman Jaime Hom and sophomore first baseman Marissa Padilla.

The Lady Vikings lost to Loara in the opening round of the Southern Section Division 4 playoffs.
