Whiz Kid: Samohi's Faulk Makes All-State Hoops Squad

Vikings senior guard earned honorable mention after averaging 13.5 points per game.

The MaxPreps All-State high school basketball teams are out, and 's Moriah Faulk has earned honorable mention recognition after leading the Vikings' girls squad to the and the this winter. 

Faulk, a 5' 11" senior guard-forward, made the All-Ocean League first team and the All-CIF Southern Section Division 1AA team after averaging 13.5 points per game and scoring 20 or more points four times. She was also a Los Angeles Times All-Area selection. Faulk considered Washington and Kansas before choosing to sign with UCLA.

Under Faulk's leadership, the Vikings and finished runner-up to Inglewood in the Ocean League standings. She scored a season-high 24 points in a 78-41 win over Division V state finalist Playa del Rey St. Bernard on Dec. 2.

Santa Ana Mater Dei senior Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis was named girls state Player of the Year after scoring a season-best 33 points for the triumphant Monarchs in the Division I state championship game.

MaxPreps chose 30 players—divided into first, second and third teams—along with 15 honorable mention picks for its All-State squad.

Carmel.
