St. Monica Hoops Players Honored

Five girls and five boys have made the All-Camino Real League basketball teams.

The All-Camino Real League boys and girls basketball teams have been chosen, and several players are among those selected.

Making the boys' first team were senior guard , senior center (10.2 rebounds per game) and junior guard-forward , who led St. Monica with 18.1 points and 1.2 blocks per game.

Sophomore Brandon Randolph of St. Bernard was named the league's Most Valuable Player. Joining the St. Monica Mariners' trio on the first team are Adam Aguirre of Cantwell, Emiliano Mejia and Matt Santos of Bosco Tech, James Nora of Mary Star, Uzoma Mbelu and Thurman Thomas of St. Bernard, and Paul Telles of St. Paul.

St. Monica also had two boys make the second team: senior guard  and junior guard , the latter of whom averaged 6.5 assists and 1.1 steals per game. Joining them on the list are Jacob Alaniz of Cantwell, Josh Espinoza and Elijah Yanit of Bosco Tech, Carlos Mitchell and Anthony Myers of Mary Star, Daniel Cordoba, Emani Gant and Brandon Morrison of St. Bernard and Josiah Corona and Andrew Garcia of St. Paul.

Making the girls' first team were Mariners senior forward-center , who averaged 11.2 points and 6.3 rebounds this season, and senior guard-forward , who averaged 15.6 points, 7.0 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 2.2 steals and 1.7 blocks per game.

Joining them on the first team were league Most Valuable Player Patty Luna, Alexis Torres, Jordan Santiago and Jackie Huerta of Sacred Heart, Mia Taylor of Mary Star, Itos Aikhionbare of La Salle and Viviana Rios, and Imee Uy of Lakewood St. Joseph.

Second team honors went to St. Monica senior point guard , senior forward and senior guard-forward . Rounding out the second team were Priscilla Rodriguez and Italia Trejo of Sacred Heart; Sydnee Watanabe of Mary Star; Sarah Kopcha, Jackie Pacheco and Nila Vaeluaga of La Salle; and Elizabeth Lyon and Michele Pennala of St. Joseph.
