'Cinema on the Street' Starts July 6

Line-up for the outdoor, downtown movie series includes older classics and an Oscar-winner.

Downtown Santa Monica Inc.'s second annual “Cinema on the Street” series kicks off July 6 with The Sandlot, the coming-of-age tale of a ragtag group of kids and the bonds they build over backyard baseball.

Free movies will play weekly on Fridays in July on the , so bring a blanket or beach chairs.

Who you gonna call? Another American classic, Ghostbusters, will play the following week, followed by newer hits: Rio and The Artist.

The movie screen will be between Wilshire Boulevard and Arizona Avenue, just outside of Chipotle. Movies begin about 7:30 p.m. The time is dependent on the sunset.

Parking is available in downtown parking structures. Cars entering after 6 p.m. pay a $5 flat rate.
