Drumroll, Please! 2012 Twilight Concert Series Line-Up Announced
This year's concert series—which starts July 5—will include music ranging from African rock to folk to salsa.
Free summer concerts at the will enter their 28th year with the July 5th launch of the Twilight Concert Series.
The Santa Monica Pier will host 10 free concerts featuring a mix of emerging and established music from all over the world every Thursday night from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. through Sept. 6.
Co-produced by Los Angeles-based Rum & Humble and emceed by DJs from KCRW, the Twilight Concert Series will span diverse genres from breakout bands, established acts, singers and songwriters and local artists, including African rock, Indie Rock, Cuban, Jamaican reggae, contemporary salsa, New Orleans brass, folk and Louisiana funk.

“This is the best lineup yet for the Twilight Concert Series and we can't wait," said KCRW Music Director and Morning Becomes Eclectic host Jason Bentley.
- July 5: Beach-ready songs of surfer/troubadour Donavon Frankenreiter and the energetic soul of Jeff Young's Song & Dance Society
- July 12: Jamaican harmony trio The Mighty Diamonds and Los Angeles-based reggae band The Lions
- July 19: Los Angeles-based Indie acts HAIM and Wildcat! Wildcat!
- July 26: Organic jam rocker Jackie Greene
- Aug. 2: Australian country singer-songwriter Kasey Chambers
- August 9: PARADE Collective – Jam sessions featuring musicians from Cirque du Soleil®
- Aug. 16: African Rock from Mali’s Amadou & Mariam paired with Portland Scene-stealers Y La Bamba
- Aug. 23: Cuban singer-songwriter Alex Cuba and the Salsa dance sounds of Lucky 7 Mambo
- Aug. 30: New Orleans’ own Hot 8 Brass Band and Louisiana funk band The Gumbo Brothers
- Sept. 6: SoCal Indie Breakout Act Best Coast
Concertgoers are encouraged to take the Big Blue Bus to partake in the Twilight Concert Series. Parking will be available in the lot north of the pier at 1550 Pacific Coast Highway, however parking on the Santa Monica Pier deck will be closed. The City of Santa Monica will provide a free bike valet, stationed on the beach next to the bicycle path on the south side of the pier.

“You just can't beat Summer nights at the Pier. Where else can you listen to great bands with friends over the sound of crashing waves?” said Jay Farrand, the Santa Monica Pier Administrator.
