Tropical Storm Isaac Strands Pier Concert Headliner

Tropical Storm Isaac has stranded Thursday's Twilight Concert Series headliner, New Orleans-based Hot 8 Brass Brand, the announced via its Facebook page Wednesday morning.

Brooklyn funk band, The Pimps of Joytime, has signed on to a last-minute substitution. It's bringing a special guest guitarist, Leo Nocentelli, from New Orleans band The Meters.

"We are heartbroken by this unexpected event and our thoughts go out to the band and the safety of their families," the pier's statement read.

With 75 mph winds gripping Louisiana, 600,000 residents were without power, one-third of them in New Orleans, and all flights out of the city were canceled Tuesday and Wednesday, according to published reports in the New York Times and USA Today.

The free Twilight Concert Series is produced by by Los Angeles-based Rum & Humble and emceed by DJs from KCRW.

The concert begins at 7 p.m. Venice-based Louisiana funk band, the Gumbo Brothers, will open the show as planned.
