Tropical Storm Isaac Strands Pier Concert Headliner

Brooklyn funk band, The Pimps of Joytime, agrees to last-minute substitution. Venice-based Louisiana funk band, the Gumbo Brothers, will open the show as planned.

Tropical Storm Isaac has stranded Thursday's Twilight Concert Series headliner, New Orleans-based Hot 8 Brass Brand, the announced via its Facebook page Wednesday morning.

Brooklyn funk band, The Pimps of Joytime, has signed on to a last-minute substitution. It's bringing a special guest guitarist, Leo Nocentelli, from New Orleans band The Meters.

"We are heartbroken by this unexpected event and our thoughts go out to the band and the safety of their families," the pier's statement read.

With 75 mph winds gripping Louisiana, 600,000 residents were without power, one-third of them in New Orleans, and all flights out of the city were canceled Tuesday and Wednesday, according to published reports in the New York Times and USA Today.

WOW. sorry to hear Hot 8 Brass Band is unable to perform but this is a GREAT replacement.

I was really looking forward to seeing the Hot 8 Brass Band...so sorry the hurricane is wrecking havoc on New Orleans...
