FREE FREE FREE: Rita's Ice Open on Main Street and Free Today and Tomorrow

East Coasters are probably going to pee themselves over this news, so please brace yourselves: Rita's Ice is officially open in Santa Monica on Main Street. Bonus: the beloved back east Italian ice and frozen custard provider is offering a free small ice to all today and tomorrow (8/12-8/13), according to our good friends over at Eater L.A.

Since I care about you guys, I took a walk down there (okay, fine... I drove) to sample the Rita's fare and must admit being rather impressed. I probably haven't had real, authentic Italian ice in some time, so I really enjoyed my Black Cherry/Swedish Fish combo - especially the Black Cherry, which possessed some tiny real black cherry bits here and there. Packed with flavor and super refreshing. The custard looked pretty solid too (next visit...). Rita's is definitely a worthy addition to Main Street and should quickly become a go-to post-sunny beach day hangout.
