Boys & Girls Club Tries to Break Jumping-Jack Record: Check Out Video

The organization's local chapter likely helped snap the Guinness record for most people doing jumping jacks at the same time.

Last week was a particularly busy one for the . In recognition of the nationwide Boys & Girls Club Week, the group's local chapter held a Wednesday that featured a ton of .

Also, the day before, the club joined more than 1,000 other chapters across the U.S. as they attempted to set a new Guinness record for at the same time. More than 150-plus members in Santa Monica alone took part at two club locations in town.

At least 279 kids needed to participate in order to snap the record. Guinness is likely to certify the record-breaking in the coming weeks.

The jumping-jack effort was an extension of the organization’s Triple Play program, which motivates kids to become more physically active and eat healthier.

“We encourage our young people to live healthy, active lifestyles, because it puts them on a pathway to a great future,” SMBGC CEO Aaron Young said. “By jumping their way into history, they proved that you don’t fancy equipment or a gym membership to get active and be healthy. Fitness can start with something as simple as a jumping jack!”
