Subaru of Santa Monica Shares The Love with Meals On Wheels West Clients

Subaru of Santa Monica Shared the Love with Meals On Wheels West to Benefit Local Seniors

 

As part of Subaru of America’s national “Share the Love” Event, Subaru of Santa Monica has partnered with Meals On Wheels West, a local non-profit that hand delivers nutritional meals and social interaction to homebound residents.

Every day, Meals On Wheels West will be at Subaru of Santa Monica collecting donations and handing out information about the organization. Also as part of the event, for every Subaru sold, Subaru will donate $250 to Meals On Wheels Association of America.

On Tuesday, Dec. 27, Subaru of Santa Monica employees used a fleet of Subaru vehicles to help deliver nutritious meals to homebound residents in Santa Monica. The fleet of Subaru vehicles departed on routes beginning at 10:30 a.m. from Meals On Wheels West offices located at 1823-A Michigan Avenue, Santa Monica 90404.

“Share the Love” is a marketing campaign based on the love Subaru owners have for their vehicles and their desire to help worthy causes. Subaru’s “Share the Love” Event runs until Jan. 3, 2012.

“Just like Subaru owners, the staff at our local dealership cares deeply about giving back, especially throughour long-standing partnership with Meals On Wheels West,” said Subaru of Santa Monica Sales Manager Ron Fodrey. “With more than 5,000 residents over the age of 85 in Santa Monica, the work of Meals On Wheels West is vital, and we are proud to continue to support their efforts to end senior hunger in our community.

”Every weekday, Meals On Wheels West volunteers deliver companionship and two nutritious meals to homebound, elderly and disabled residents. The services allow clients to remain living independently in their homes rather than be consigned to assisted living facilities or burdening public services. Meals cost an averageof $6 per day, but no client is turned away for inability to pay. Meals On Wheels West serves more than 500 clients in Los Angeles’ coastal communities of Santa Monica, Pacific Palisades, Malibu, Topanga and parts of Venice and Marina Del Rey.
