Heal The Bay Deploys Storm Response Team

The team will remove dangerous debris on Thursday in two Santa Monica Bay beaches following today's rains. You can volunteer to take part.

Heal the Bay’s volunteer Storm Response Team has been mobilized to remove dangerous debris at the two Santa Monica Bay beaches most impacted by today’s downpour, the season’s first significant rain event.

More than 30 volunteers will begin at 8 a.m. Thursday morning to counteract the damage caused by the so-called “First Flush,” where trash that has been accumulating for months on sidewalks, roadways and riverbeds is washed into the storm drains and into the sea.

According to Heal the Bay the group must act quickly before the day’s high tide carries the “First Flush” out to the sea.
