Holiday Gift-Giving Scoots Into Boys and Girls Club

Their little arms stretched out to the handlebars of shimmery orange, blue and cream vintage Vespas, members of the sat smiling a few feet from the ground.

They were treated Sunday to a holiday party with a visit from the Westside Scooter Club, who each year, makes such trips to a children's hospital or nonprofit serving needy kids.

The scooter club contributed gifts to be selected that day from among a heap of plastic garbage bags stuffed with new, plastic tea sets, Tonka trucks, basketballs and Barbie dolls that the Boys and Girls Club had accumulated.

"We try to make sure they have a good holiday," said scooter club member Marvyn Mack.
