Mattel Party Raises Over $600,000 for Hospital

Celebrities showed up for the 12th annual Mattel Party on the Pier.

The 12th annual Mattel Party on the Pier, held at , raised more than $620,000 for Mattel Children's Hospital UCLA on Sunday. Celebrities joined hospital staff, and pediatric patients and their families, at the four-hour fundraiser.

Guests enjoyed amusement-park rides, a silent auction, arts and crafts, and carnival games that featured prizes donated by Mattel. Actors from kids TV shows like iCarly, A.N.T. Farm and Mike's Super Short Show also took part in the games.

The Mattel Party on the Pier is the biggest annual fundraiser for Mattel Children's Hospital UCLA and usually draws about 1,400 people. Money raised at the Mattel Party on the Pier is used to fund projects and address other needs at the hospital. Last year's fundraiser helped finance the hospital's such as the hospital's pediatric stem-cell and gene therapy programs; its inflammatory bowel disease program; and its Chase Child Life Program.

Update: A UCLA representative said Monday that nearly $600,000 was raised at the party; on Tuesday, the representative touched base with Santa Monica Patch and said the figure had risen to more than $620,000.
