Skaters Race Along the Coast: See Pics

The 18-mile longboard-a-thon event raises money for the fight against breast cancer.

Skaters raised money for breast cancer and encouraged people to live a healthy lifestyle during the fifth-annual Skate the Coast event, which took place Saturday.

The 18-mile longboard-a-thon event, hosted by the youth-centric nonprofit organization Boarding for Breast Cancer, started at the and ended at Redondo Beach Riviera Plaza. Mayor was among the spectators.

Following the race, there was a post-party bash featuring an awards ceremony, live music and raffles.

Boarding for Breast Cancer, which was founded in 1996, advocates early detection and an active lifestyle as the best way to prevent breast cancer. Its programs include "Be Healthy. Get Active. Ride!" initiative, which promote participation in board sports. For more info, check out B4BC.org.
