FREEZE THE DEVELOPMENT OF SKYSCRAPERS

I don’t ever recall a resident survey requesting opinions on more buildings, high density buildings, high rise buildings, monster condominium projects, taking half of Bergamot Station, and less parking. We ask for more open space, more green space, instead we are given high rise, high density "villages." Existing "affordable housing" is torn down, residents are kicked out, only to be turned into monster development projects and some vague promise of affordable housing. These units end up being undesirable little 300-400 sq ft boxes. No sane people let alone a family can live in! Residents are fed up with what is taking place in Santa Monica, it is out of control. There must be an immediate freeze on building without resident input as to common sense future growth. I believe that until the new Downtown Specific Plan is adopted, the City should only consider reasonable development that is within the existing limits. In addition, all approved projects need to be evaluated as a whole for impact on City. No system would be built one piece at a time if it is to work!
