If you blink twice, you might miss this small family restaurant on Ocean Avenue. Chez Jay, aptly named after the recently passed owner, is a welcoming, humble bar and restaurant with a delicious fine dining menu. A ship's wheel is mounted at the front door and Christmas lights are draped along the walls. One might be surprised by menu options like filet mignon, prime rib and swordfish in this bar/seafood saloon. A basket of roasted peanuts adorn the center of each table as a signature of the simplicity that is Chez Jay. Every guest is welcomed by the chef and bartender of the night, especially if you're a new face. This is a friendly and down to earth atmosphere which is why a few Hollywood elites have visited the restaurant to get away from the usual Ocean Avenue scene. Most of Chez Jay's customers are regulars in the Santa Monica area and have come to eat there for years.
