Huckleberry Bakery and Cafe was born out of the love between husband and wife owners Josh Loeb and Zoe Nathan. The two also own nearby Rustic Canyon Wine Bar and Seasonal Kitchen, where they fell in love working together after Loeb opened it in 2006. The food at Huckleberry is made on site, starting every day at 4am. The highest quality ingredients are used, drawing from local farmers markets, baking with organic flour and using Valrhona chocolate. The menu can change regularly with the seasons. Inside, guests order at the counter and then find a seat in the rustic, simple cafe. Food is brought to the table. The counter displays many of the baked goods made fresh daily, including eclairs, croissants, lemon bars, fruit tarts, muffins and coffee cake. Breakfast is served until 11am, with such items as green eggs and ham, Niman Rach brisket hash, quinoa, fried egg sandwich and Rustic Canyon cured salmon platter. Lunch sandwiches are served from 11am until 3pm, with choices like warm turkey meatball, tuna salad, house-made brisket, marinated peppers and burrata sandwich and barbecue pork sandwich. The early evening menu starts at 3pm and includes a warm turkey meatball plate, plain or barbecued half chicken and roasted market beet salad. Weekdays specials are available, along with catering for various events.
