Pacific Dining Car has a rich history as an iconic Los Angeles restaurant. The original opened in downtown Los Angeles in 1921, housed in an actual dining car of a train. The Santa Monica location was added nearly 70 years later. The interior of the restaurant takes customers to a time of class and quality, with fine furnishings and luxurious textures.

The kitchen serves breakfast and dinner all the time, with lunch served from 11am to 4pm and afternoon tea service from 3pm to 5:30pm. The prime, corn-fed beef aged on the premises is a specialty at the restaurant. Steak dishes include filet mignon, filet Oscar, New York steak, ribeye steak, prime rib, T-bone, roquefort steak and the Pacific Dining Car's original Cowboy Steak. All steaks are served with complimentary sauces to enhance flavor. Many steak and seafood combinations are available.

A special late night menu is available from 11pm to 4am. The various rooms in the restaurant, like the Huntington Room, the Astor Room and the Club Car are open for private parties.
