They are NOT the same thing, although they may have many of the same wind players. The Gala event you "Patched" is for the SAMOHI Orchestra, not the Concert Bands. Usually the Concert Bands will have their own "finale" around the same point in time. So take care when you refer to them. Don't get them confused wth one another.

As a current Band and Orchestra parent, I can tell you it's an embarrassment of riches :-) Samohi…Read More has four concert bands, four string orchestras and two full orchestras. The Samohi Concert Bands have their final concert of the year on Wednesday, May 29 @7pm. The Senior Gala on June 1st is for Orchestra students, some of whom double as Band students.

I am delighted they won first prize. I watched their short films earlier this year on this very…Read More website. They were excellent and deserving of the recognition. I applaud all of the SMC staff for their involvement and participation in training aspiring film makers.
It is not necessary to go to UCLA or USC film school in order to learn the craft.
