About 20 years ago, my husband was hit in the face by a drunk dodger fan and the man continued untilRead More I showed up in front of the man---Pregnant--two weeks due and was yelling and asking him what he was doing and why he had hit my husband in the face. Someone from dodger stadium came and wrote the incident down but nothing happened---No apology---nothing. The guys simply hit him because the dodger ticket agent was taking too long---so he hit my husband in the face. I'm glad this has happened to the dodgers.

This article is a little confusing. LA Times says the jury found the Dodgers "shared just 25%Read More of the liability for Stow's injuries." Still, the law requires they pay for all of the injury expense. Well, I'm no lawyer!

I guess actor Harrison Ford's need for everyone to subsidize his airplane hobby is more importantRead More than the health and safety of the 60,000 residents who live within 2 miles of the Santa Monica Airport.
Lisa Lisa July 7, 2014 at 04:07 pm
The FAA and Aviation interests are squatting on the land. In 1941, the Feds leased the airport landRead More for the war. Please read this (http://tinyurl.com/olgrwl5). Start on page 5 and don't forget to look at the actual Lease in the Appendix at the back which shows the Lease starting December 8, 1941 for $1. The Feds are saying that "the war ended, so we terminate the Lease, on the condition that you operate it as an airport forever." How can this be legal? That is the very question here and that is what this WHOLE dispute has been about for the last number of decades. Apply this logic to a tenant (who is a pro football player) leasing a home from a landlord owner. The tenant decides to move because he got a new job with another team out of state. The tenant terminates the lease early and states a condition that the landlord can only lease the home to football players FOREVER. This isn't legal.
pilot_rick July 10, 2014 at 04:44 pm
Lisa Lisa, The Faa is not squatting on the ground. They built the airport but do not own it.Read More They made a deal back in 1946 that says Santa Monica must operate the airport forever. The city owns and operates the land, much to their dismay. If the city does not continue to keep up their end of the deal the Federal government will just take over the land. I hope that happens so we won't have to deal with pesky landing fees and inconvienent "voluntary" curfews. The nonsense you bring up regarding football players and tenant issues is of course completely irrelevant to the issue but does show how clueless you and other airport opponents are.

California is awful for small business. It's great for high-profit tech firms that need to attractRead More highly paid talent. That's why so many small businesses incorporate in NV or other states and utilize other residency loopholes to avoid outrageous taxes and fees. If they eased up on the $800 an LLC has to pay ever year (I believe only ONE other state charges a flat large annual fee like this), maybe there wouldn't be so much flight. What I can't comprehend is the previous post claiming companies are lobbying the state for lenient immigration rules so they can have access to cheap labor. Who are these companies? Certainly not the tech firms in the Bay Area, what are they going to do with migrant workers? They're the donors to the Democratic party. And if the Demos aren't trying to create policy that would benefit the poor and middle class, then who is? Republicans? Would you be able to tell me that with a straight face?

Attn: Mr. R. Terry Date: Monday June 09, 2014 It is because of gamblingRead More that some horses and bulls lose their lives. Bulls will die automatically in a Bull Fight after the Matador sticks both swords in the bull's throat from the left and right side of the bull. Combination of construction on pch during daytime hours causing unnecessary backup and stoppedRead More traffic in blind tunnel combined with city not installing flashing lights and proper hazard ahead cost this child his young life, the city is partly at fault the family has grounds for a valid claim and lawsuit
Lorelei Shark June 7, 2014 at 08:37 am
Too many big rigs and dump trucks on our streets. The McClure tunnel has two narrow lanes in eachRead More direction. Vehicles go speeding through there as if they were on an open straight-a-way. Either change the speed limit - make it one lane in each direction or have larger vehicles go around and not use the tunnel. It took 3 crashes within a couple of weeks to stop the big rigs driving over Trousdale. So much new construction = more heavier, clumsy large vehicles on the road. I fear Malibu Canyon may suffer this fate - as the big trucks try to stay up to speed rather than pull-over to let cars pass. This is very sad that a child's life was taken and another suffered critical injuries.

Sadly, all too often these cases end very badly (and fatally) for these children. We areRead More increasingly seeing cases such as this one with the courts and law enforcement officials doing all to little to protect victims. The attitude (until the child is actually killed) is that the mother is 'exaggerating', 'hysterical', and that (as I was told by the police) "a father would never hurt his own child". The ignorance and "turning a blind-eye attitude" that we are seeing in the courts is largely responsible for cases such as these escalating to this point. I hope on this occasion the police will take action rather than 'sweeping it under the carpet' as usual. For more information about the failure of courts to protect victims see Family Courts in Crisis posted on http://worldpulse.com/node/71182.

Again - this issue is about a material breach of contract. It is a standard morals, character andRead More behavior clause issue. Any violation of Mr. Sterling's privacy rights is between him and his mistress. Since the NBA and its franchisees are harmless, the censure and fine will stick. Sterling has a history of being litigious - so he may well litigate even if all the franchisees force him out, which they will. Either way through a conservator or sale - Sterling is out of the Clippers management business. This isn't a 1st Amendment issue - as no censorship or punishment was rendered by the federal government. Beast, the impact of the communication still violates Sterling's contract. This this not like a 4th Amendment "fruit of the poisonous tree case" - there is no wrongful federal or state government involvement. Sterling will need to seek redress from his mistress. And, he may seek redress from TMZ if they obtained the tape illegally. Which, as of yet there is no indication.

Better yet Mimi let's not have any punishment for these out of control single parent children.BetterRead More yet let's ditch the prisons and these idiots can move in with you and live in your neighborhood. Any bets on whether these hoodlums have a live in Dad. I doubt it. When I was a kid there was an old saying wait until your dad gets home. Get out of line and have your ass handed to you. Don't regret one minute of the spankings and certainly am better for it. I have raised 8 children all of which were and still are fine students. 2 are Marines serving our country so ding dings like you have a place to live free and spew your B.S. One is a veterinarian the rest are in school, and yes I whip their ass' s when they step one foot out of line. Unfortunately these two hoodlums arrested will be worse off hanging out in prison being someone's girlfriend. Of course according to you that's better then the corporal punishment and having them educated before that. I say bring back corporal punishment now.
