The police did a good job on this case. I remember when that murder took place. How hard it must…Read More have been for Juliana's parents to loose a 21 year old daughter who never hurt anyone. It's time for the murderer to pay the price and for Julianna to have justice!

Just noticed on google maps -- it looks like the light is out again. Who wants to take my wager…Read More that there will again be no traffic officer, and PCH traffic will be stuck for hours?
Bradford Mar May 15, 2013 at 01:44 pm
I was stuck in that traffic. Why wasn't there a traffic officer on the scene in order to keep PCH…Read More flowing? It took me an hour to get to west channel from the 10. I called CalTrans district 7, but the receptionist told me that "the guy" had already gone home for the day. At 4? There's only "the guy" at CalTrans and he packs it in before rush hour?! Sequester that homeboy and his dept. outta here. They offer us nothing.
Hans Laetz May 10, 2013 at 10:30 pm
Old infrastructure. Not Caltrans fault, really. Their number of electricians and their amount of…Read More worked hours has been cut. Waste and stupidity at CT? Sure. Some. But, when you scrimp on maintenance, shorts happen.
james schumacher May 9, 2013 at 06:53 pm
how does a "homeless" person post $2,000 bail. I think that's the real story!
mimi May 9, 2013 at 03:54 pm
This is a perfect example of a mentally ill individual who doesn't meet the criteria of "danger…Read More to self or others, and/or gravely disabled". Therefore, he cannot, involuntarily, be committed to a mental hospital. Obviously, he is unwilling to voluntarily do this. Instead, he is a public nuisance. His crimes make no sense.
We waste law enforcement time and energy. And it costs tax payers plenty.
What's wrong with this picture?
The laws that once existed were repealed under Reagan in order to protect the rights of the mentally ill. It was a terrible decision. The laws needs to be reinstated in order to protect the rights of the public. Mentally ill individuals need to be sent back to hospitals for treatment. This is a sad situation for everyone.
Lynn W May 9, 2013 at 05:58 pm
These car chases too often result in the unnecessary deaths of innocent people killed by cars…Read More involved in the chase. The chase is often after someone running because of a parole violation, a traffic misdemeanor, or is a kid joy-riding in a stolen car. Unless the person being chased is a greater danger to the public than the car chase itself, then there should not be a car chase.
Africa May 9, 2013 at 12:25 am
@mimi how was my opinion unclear ?
the point is that woman should have not gotten beaten the way she…Read More did.
You stated ?w as the victim also known to be a gang banger? If so, arrest her along with the other six beauties.
That's inappropriate!
Everyone is entitled to their own opinion but when someone makes a ridicouls remark its 1) inappropriate 2) poor character
Anyways if she was or not a gangmember
that gives no one rights to brutally beat up someone
mimi May 8, 2013 at 10:52 pm
Africa- Were you there? Do you have additional facts/information not included in the Patch…Read More coverage? If yes, please share. If no, than what makes your opinion less arrogant than mine?
Do you understand the definition of "arrogant"? It's unclear whether you actually want to defend the victim or start an argument with me.
I stand by my comments until additional facts are available. And I will not argue with you or anyone else prior to such time.
Africa May 8, 2013 at 10:15 pm
@mimi that made you sound so arrogant
that fight could of been handle extremely different. no woman…Read More or anyhuman!
Should be beat up they way that woman was.
How sad to think that you go out for a night of fun to a bar and because you accidentaly bump into someone , there's a brutal fight.
Its gross just to think about those type of people

What a lowlife- but to me it's all about "access"- just as low as this are those who take…Read More their life savings via stock scams and ponzi schemes- some loot diapers and diet coke while others take your home through a carefully planned melt down - so many pick on the vulnerable- guess that is all they can do - rich or poor- same thing
Anna Corral May 9, 2013 at 04:08 pm
Gangs are an affiliation or unit/group that come collectively together for a common goal or cause-we…Read More have many from boy scouts (the innocent aspect) to race relations! The military is a non denominational race based gang too. It is only in the dynamics do the threads of a overall entity take on smaller units and form smaller connects within!
Anna Corral May 9, 2013 at 03:55 pm
Are u serious Eric?! Ur comment is a typical "Red Herring," statement throwing a smoke…Read More screen in front of the truth here! Omg! Since when does anyyyy background of politics or race have anything to do with how a culture is created that feeds hate, anger, and negativity!? Ill tell u what does-EGO! EGO attached to PERSONALITY, is the fuel to ignite the flame of negative actions, and deeds!
mimi May 1, 2013 at 11:04 pm
Michael- Ignorant people use stereotypes to perpetrate hate & discrimination. For what it's…Read More worth, in Southern California, the Chinese and Korean gang bangers are rapidly growing in numbers. Soon they will replace Latinos and Blacks for first place. A dubious distinction, at best.
In NYC, Puerto Rican gang bangers win first place. Somewhere in this world there must be white Italian gang bangers. Oh, wait, there is. They keep changing their name from Mafia to Cosa Nostra to The Family to who knows what. No one will dispute they are the most successful group of gang bangers.

I don't want to get rid of all trees, yet. Just your trees, for now

The headline is misleading. The car chase never entered Santa Monica.

I agree. However, the liability is cost prohibitive without the participation of the pharmaceutical…Read More companies. If the pharm companies were willing to analyze the compounds (free of charge in exchange for a charitable donation tax write off) and then send the usable meds back to a central distribution center, it could be a win/win for everyone..

Horrible- the Seaview is one of the few smaller ones still hanging on too
True Freedom April 17, 2013 at 04:58 pm
Your causal reasoning is flawed. I might agree that if one is a coward, they will post under a…Read More pseudonym; however, the converse is not necessarily true.. ie if one uses a pseudonym, then they are a coward.
Regardless of whether I'm a coward or not, if this guy is in a gang or is guilty as charged, then he is a doosh.
michael derek mccoy April 17, 2013 at 12:21 pm
Time to overhaul the Pico area, and rid the city of gangs................ So tired of these low…Read More lives, ruining a beautiful city. Call out the national guard, and restore order.
David Mendez-Yapkowitz April 17, 2013 at 01:11 am
Oh look, another coward with a fake name. I find it hilarious how people won't use their real names…Read More out of fear of being ousted as a moron. Hiding behind a guise such as "True Freedom" allows them to spout ignorance about subjects they clearly have no understanding of. I don't understand a gear deal of things in this world, but I don't go around spewing garbage trying to sound like I know what I'm talking about. I'm also not a coward, I sign my name to everything so everyone knows where I stand.
Keith Martin Kaucher April 16, 2013 at 01:05 pm
A lot of them don't have cars, so they don't have a way to get here, outside the bus, that takes too…Read More long, with the Expo that restriction is gone. Listen you're arguing with me about this, but it was two SMPD officers I was talking with that brought this up.
So when you or someone you know gets robbed, or worst lets see how fast you'll change your mind about the Expo. I'm sure you got your money so you don't need to defend your bad decision.
Daniel Jansenson April 16, 2013 at 12:08 pm
Now I understand. Right now the gang bangers you mention can't get to Santa Monica, for some reason.…Read More Maybe they have a hard time getting visas! But with the train, all their restrictions will suddenly disappear and they will come flooding in. Those robbers in the story, they must have taken the train to Culver City and then caught a cab into Santa Monica, obviously.
Keith Martin Kaucher April 16, 2013 at 12:11 am
SMR No the Expo isn't running from Nevada and that's not what I nor the officers I was talking to…Read More were referring to. The Expo will be picking people up from The East LA area. What the Officers were talking about are the gang bangers that live in East LA and So Central. You must be one of the Council members justifying the Expo this city didn't need.

Chris Banerjee, what a Horrible, abusive coward! He broke that beautiful girl's nose!! His third…Read More offense, of some sort. He's a loser. Here is a link to his FB. What a creep!!!

this Banerjee coward head-butted his girlfriend?.....her dad or her brothers should do the same to…Read More him...
Paul S April 12, 2013 at 05:38 pm
I am far more bothered that the "head butting" DV man got someone to go his bail- too bad-
mimi April 9, 2013 at 12:26 am
I'm glad this story has a happy ending for the child and his grandmother. Not so much for Mom.

Glenn E Grab April 10, 2013 at 01:07 pm

Paul April 10, 2013 at 05:25 am
I absolutely agree.
But it just shows that the legislature didn't really want to make this a…Read More deterrent. I'm sure they just wanted something on the books to show that they did 'something' to acknowledge this problem.
Perhaps the fines might be adjusted some time in the future. We can only hope.

Hi David, and internet ppl on this subject;
Thank you David for your educated and intelligent…Read More insight to give everyone clarity here in enlightenment. I live right here in this proximity. I am half an alley down from where this violence occurred! I heard those gun shots, and had the info very quickly as to what occurred @ the stop light. It is ignorance in ego that lead to this violence. I want everyone to know that I have kids who go to SAMO High, and I have walked this neighborhood alone for yrs now from work and home, and I to see the need to help the community-but those who need help have to be part of the solution not the problem, and have to be held accountable too! There are alot of good, hard working ppl., in this neighborhood, that yes, do have ties, and connections to many gang affiliations of past and ongoing. And when ppl like we are hearing are not speaking, it is a clear sign not of total fear, but of retaliation in revenge to help keep this fued going! Most understand logic, and common sense.
But ego and be so deceptive in us an our personalities to help create the tensions, and the negative energy present! So what is the solution-The law has to impact harder by force in cops, as well as legal resources, and for those who wont talk-they already have the proof of what transpired and why-hold the victims accountable too for not being part of the solution, but part of the problem too!
mathew millen April 14, 2013 at 12:19 am
HUD During the Clinton Administartion prepared a study entitled In The Crossfire..in summary the…Read More report concluded there is more crime and gun violence when there is an overconcentration of low income housing. That is exactly the problem in the Pico Neighborhood..a low income housing project on every block ..5 projects on 20th between Delaware and Pico blvd..200 units between Cloverfield and Frank St. More in this small area than in all of Wilshire to San Vicente Blvd...we need a moratorium on low income projects in the Pico Neighborhood until there are 500 units berween Wilshire and San Vicente Blvd...
Romi April 10, 2013 at 04:28 am
I agree 100%. I like the implementation of a fine, even for inability to cooperate due to certain…Read More circumstances. It's almost like aiding and embedding, with no real proof. This keeps happening, and it's scary for my kids that walk around that area every day. Frustrating it is, for both civilians and law enforcement alike.
Scary

glen - Yes, he is off his meds. That's why he did this. If he goes to a board and care, he will get…Read More a psychiatric evaluation and meds will be mandatory. He will have no choice, if he wishes to stay. There is no way to change his scavenger activities But it can be channeled into legal scavengering. There are a lot of dumpster divers searching for food. And not all of them are homeless. They know which restaurants/grocery stores dump, as well as when and where. It's harmless for everyone except the diver who may get food poisoning. I suspect they are experts at weeding out rancid food. They are survival savvy.

There are areas all over the west side- some at various docks in the marina- others along Lincoln-…Read More and some pockets from SM to LAX where you can buy just about anything from crack to a gun- the MDR station knew who the felons with warrants outstanding were and still allowed the activity - along with alcohol driven fights - boats robbed etc to go on - be careful with your identity folks- it's literally a nightmare when they get a hold of your good credit- or business- I know it first hand- and unless you have huge money and are lucky enough to get a 'good lawyer" - good luck- no one is really trained to deal with it - nor do they particularly care
